The day was as cold as any other day, much of everything was scattered and lost from the disaster that had happened and now only remains were left. Asch was wondering the cold streets in search of supplies, he knew he could not last without supplies. Everyone needed food, water, and tons of items that were meant for first aid. As he stumbles through the remains of Chinatown, he couldn't help but feel confused and lost. It was like he was in a place that was so new to him and yet it felt like he knew the place well. Asch hugged himself in a attempt to keep warm, his eyes were searching for anything he could use in self defense. Most likely people were still around and was confused as he was, as he wonders around he couldn't help but stumble over some obstacles that were in his way. Asch was indeed dirty from the head down, dirt stains were on his face as well as his clothes which were black and rather fashionable. Stopping at a nearby building did he begin in searching for things he could use, he smelt a lof of things that he hadn't smelt before. Smoke, dirt, and a rather strong negative smell went by him rather sharply which got his attention. Covering his nose and lightly coughing did he miss his step and fell down rather hard on his back. Asch muffled his sound of discomfort as he looked behind himself to see what it was that he misplaced his foot on.
It turns out that he fell down off of a pile of rubble just now which explained the pain that he felt when he made impact. Asch slowly stood up holding his right arm now looking at the pile in hopes of looking for something, anything that he could use. Sadly, he didn't find anything and he continued his search in a rather slow manner. After all, he was feeling pain rather sharply now and he knew that he would have to take it easy until he found something he could use for first aid.

Melody pulled her jacket tighter around herself. The wind was picking up and it was a cold day too. This part of New York wasn't badly damaged. A lot of buildings were left which meant plenty of shelter. Melody continued to walk through the rubble and remains. So many thoughts were swirling through her mind. "How could the world just end and this be what's left?" As she passed buildings she was too caught up in thinking to pay attention to her surroundings. She didn't hear the noises of someone or something falling to the ground. She was looking at the ground concentrating on her thoughts when she ran into a still standing lamppost. A loud thump and pain shooting through her head brought her back to reality and where she was. "Dang it!" She said angrily. She sat down on a nearby bench and put her head in her hands. "That really hurt..." She rubbed her head. She could feel a headache coming on. "Great.." Melody muttered under her breath. She needed to rest and let her head recover.

After a moment of looking did he jump lightly and turn quickly hearing a voice, a voice that sounded like it was in pain of some kind. Asch sort of recovered his thoughts for the time being as he began walking in the direction where he had heard the voice. As he approached did his heart start beating rather fast, he was about to meet someone else. Asch was happy about that and at the same time he was a little scared about it. Some people would probably attack if they suspect that someone may be trying to steal something of theres or try to harm them. Asch wasn't like that, he was cold and a little bit lost. Not to mention, he was confused about what he should be doing. Sure, he was thinking about getting supplies. From what he could see though, was that there wasn't much stuff around that he could use. It may just take him forever to go through the things on the floor and then some. Asch stopped seeing that it was a women who had hit her head on something and he became worried. Forgetting about his back pain did he slowly approach with concern lightly showing over his features.
"Are you alright miss?"
Stopping near her, he couldn't help but look at her head if seeing if there was a sign of blood coming out of her head. Asch wasn't a doctor but he knew that if she was hurt and needed help, he would most likely help her. He didn't know how he could help her, but he may come to find something of value that he could use for whatever wound that she had gotten. It would surely take sometime in finding something that he could use, after all things were pretty much scattered and misplaced after the big shock hit.

Melody froze when she heard footsteps. She hadn't met any people since she had been here and now it was finally happening. Her heart started to race. She was happy. Finally another survivor. But then she was also scared. What if this person wanted to hurt her. There were crazy people and who knew if this was one of them. Especially since all this ciaos has been going on. Anyone would go crazy. Melody slowly lifted her head up to look at this person. She winced from the pain. "I think I'm ok. Just a headache and probably a lump on my head." Melody tried to stand but became dizzy and sat back down. She put her hand back on her head. "Woah..." She looked at the man in front of her. "Sorry for appearing this way. This is what I get for not paying attention to where I am going."

Asch showed a little bit more concern from before, as he came to notice that she tried to stand did he want to stop her or saying something to her about taking it easy. After seeing that she sat back down did he cautiously walk over and sort of bend down to her as she was continuing to sit. Asch sort of smiled in a kind manner, the bandage on his nose was rather clean though he had just placed a new one on last night or so. He had to make sure he could smell or end up being in a poor situation, after all smell was everything sometimes. He was one of those guys who loved the smell of cooking, especially his own cooking. Rather weird to like smell so much, but it could be quite understandable for he almost lost his smell entirely and so he didn't want to miss out on anything. Asch continued to bend with his head now tilted to the left, his expression was still kind though it was a little on the funny side. All over his body was dirt stains, faint rips on his jeans and black fashionable jacket. The shirt underneath his jacket use to look rather new for it was a white shirt, now it was covered in dirt stains, and mud. Asch was indeed in a poor shape, he wanted to change clothes but didn't know where to look for some decent clothes that he could wear. It was like his shoes, they were converse shoes with the big flaps. Now they were dirty beyond belief and both of his big flaps were torn and hanging down. He was indeed searching for anything he could use to maintain himself, but since he met someone new. Asch felt better, maybe there was more people scattered around the remains and he could help them as well. He didn't know how to yet, sadly.
"Bumps aren't fun. I think I got a bruise on my back?"
Asch rubbed his back with his left hand and he sort of laughed a little bit when he felt pain, it was quite normal to laugh at your wounds. Some doctors have said that it was better to be positive than to be negative, if you are positive then your wounds would heal quicker. Glancing to her he couldn't help but feel ashamed, she looked a little better than he did. It was probably cause she had a better time finding things than he did.

Melody nodded in agreement. No, bumps were not fun at all especially on your face and head. Melody sat up a little straighter. She looked him over. He was quite dirty and looked like he had been here awhile. Maybe he had lived here and had been wondering around ever since. Melody felt sad. She wasn't in as bad shape but not in the best either. She had rips in her jeans and shirt. Her tennis shoes were filthy but besides that she was ok. She had just got here to New York so she had brought extra things she could find from home. But she had left all that stuff in a hiding spot back where she started. She smiled a small smile and asked with a kind expression on her face, "Are you alright?"

Asch was actually suprised by what she had said and it brought a smile to his face, he was glad that she was nice and polite. He still felt that he looked bad compared to her though. That was normal after all, for she had better luck in finding somethings than he did. She had to be good at it, why else would she look a little better than him. Asch nervously laughed a little bit with his eyes closed and his body posture was still bending which indicated that he didn't want to get up to fast or risk his back in hurting more than it did. Concern and kindness were wonderful things, that just proved that the events didn't ruin anyones hopes yet. That was how he felt which probably explains why he looks so happy right about now. Asch was indeed happy and was thankful that he wasn't alone for a change. When the events happened and it shook the world did he begin fearing what may come to happen to him, he was actually glad he survived somehow. Everyone was surely lucky to survive such a heart breaking event like the disaster. Asch nodded lightly when he had thought of a good enough answer, it was like he was shy and at the same time excited to meet a new face. Perhaps things were looking up? He sure hoped so.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine. Thank you."
Asch bowed his head lightly to her and after doing so did he placed his hands on his knees and simply but slowly lifted himself up to his feet. Wincing was a normal fact that he still hurt, everyone had limits he was sure of that now at least. Looking to her now he couldn't help but place his arms up and around himself in a hugging manner and then he was curious as to what brought her here. Sure, everything probably looked a tad bit better here but it surely was cold and he was certain that it was cold everywhere else. Asch blinked a few times before smirking lightly as he asked in a kind manner though he was still sort of cautious and nervous in asking it. He did however decided to ask kindly for he had hoped that she had found something to sustain herself with. If that was the case maybe there was somethings around after all.
"So, did you happen to find anything of use? I'm just asking of course. I don't want to steal anything of yours"

Melody smiled. "I'm glad you are ok." Even under the currents events Melody was overjoyed to have finally found someone else. She was tired of being alone. She had had such a good life and then everything was taken from her. Not just from her but from everyone else too. She didn't think she would ever understand why or how all this happened but she just wanted things to get better. If there were enough survivors they could rebuild. They could make new lives and create a new place. There was hope yet. Melody had a good feeling about this. She felt that things were going to look up. There had to be more people around they just had to find them. Hopefully this new person she met and herself could stick together. Being alone wasn't going to get anybody anywhere. "Well I do have a stash of a few things that I had brought with me here. Some canned food, a blanket, and some clothing articles."

Asch listened to her as she spoke and his expression seemed to be a less concerned one, his old group went somewhere. He didn't know where they had gone to but he knew that he may never see them again. However, that was all by chance and they may just meet again. Happiness seemed to come over his expression as a bit of color returned to his features as well. It beat the color of dirt and that was a good thing. Looking like his old self with color and a smile was sure to ease anyone's anger or he at least hoped so. Asch nodded as he placed his hands together making him appear to be younger than what he was leading on. Those things that she found may come to help her in the long run and he was certain that if she found stuff then he could find somethings too. Everything was a mess. That was surely noticable by now when one looked at the conditions of the buildings however this place looked a bit than other places and he was sure on that fact. Asch simply looked to the ground looking a bit innocent since he was unsure on what he was getting at now. He had asked her if she found anything and she had, now what was he going to do now. It wasn't like he could leave her to fend for herself. Asch nervously laughed when that thought came to mind.
"I-I'm Asch Yorishima, by the way. What is your name?"
Asch looked alert now as he looked to her and the condition of her clothes compared to his, he was good with almost everything handed to him. He had to be when he moved out of his parent's house. Since he was the only one fending for himself, he had to learn on cooking and everything to get by. Now, here he was with a someone who was wanting a better life much like how he wanted. Anyone would want to wish that from what they had experienced. Blinking every now and again, his breathing was fine though he wished he could smell something else rather than dirt.

Melody stretched out her hand to him. She liked to greet people the right and polite way. Even in this situation. "My name is Melody. Melody Medina. It's nice to meet you Asch." Melody looked at him with a smile. She hoped he didn't find her too creepy and straight-forward. She loved meeting new people but sometimes she let her excitement get the best of her and people got freaked out. And in this current situation she could not afford to freak anyone out. In these times she needed to be with people the most. If things were going to get better people had to stick together.

Blinking silently to the gesture he gladly took her hand and shook it with his own with a very happy expression over his features, it was hard to believe that he had a happy face with all that dirt all over him. Asch however just saw it as normal dirt which was on him, it can always come off much like the obstacles around them. Sure, they hit you harder than anything but if you push on then the obstacles are not as bad as you thought them to be. Things go away which was a perk in every kind of sucky situation, however they won't go away until you are use to them and push your way out of the hardest part. Asch knew that some where deep down. One must always keep trying if they want to reach their dream, and they would have to keep trying to rebuild the earth which is in ruins. That was how it was, and hopefully if they find more people they could do it. They can change this place for the better and live like they use too. Though, that would take a little time. Baby steps are what is needed to make the bigger changes in life. Asch couldn't help himself as he held onto Melody's hand for a moment longer before letting it go and laughing a bit nervously. He seriously did that just now, hopefully she won't find it odd or else this first meeting will haunt him for life.
"Hah, no the pleasure is mine. We got to stick together right?"
Asch said this as purely and as blunt as possible, he didn't mean it to sound rude or anything but that was the truth. Both of them would have to stick together or perhaps they could exchange letters or something. He wasn't to sure, he was just thinking that to himself since he felt like he made a fool of himself already. Situations like these must be taken seriously, cause if you don't take it as serious as it was then it may come to backfire and hurt you later. The only reason why he thought that was cause, they needed to survive and keep living on. Not only for themselves but for the ones that they lost during the worst part of the event. Asch felt like that, he really did. Sure, he missed everyone dearly but it was better to be with someone that it was to be alone only then to face depression and soon perish by your own thoughts. Everyone was fragile, but during the disaster it would seem that some people were more fragile than ever. It was like a glass cup with a crack in it, one wrong move or push can send it over causing it to break. Asch decided to lighten the mood as he spoke with a bit of a laughter mixed in as he spoke.
"Melody I am so glad that I met you now. For a second there, I thought I was alone. Funny right?"

Melody's face got a serious look on it as she put her hand back down. "Yes we do need to stick together. For the better." Melody thoughts swirled around in her head. She was happy about finding another person but there were still a lot of things that needed to happen. She shouldn't get her hopes up now. This was only a shred of the beginning. But there was no reason to be negative. Just be happy for the moment and know that they could move on with hard work and perseverance. Melody smiled at what he said. "I'm glad that I met you too. I did too. I've been looking for days and wanted to give up. But I'm glad I didn't." She looked at him with a very genuine smile.

Asch seemed to be in his own little world for a second as he watched her smile and then he regained his senses and he couldn't help but smirk a tad. Right now they needed some kind of a plan, which he had come to think of one right away as he placed his right fist into his left palm softly as he now remembered why he was here. Melody found somethings and stashed them away, now Asch needed to find something as well and stash it with the things that she had already found. It would be best to do that since there was two people now, and two heads were better than one from what he knew. Asch simply nodded with a look of seriousness and pure happiness, this was going to work out just fine. First steps should be taken seriously as the rest of the plan, but it would be best to go about it quite slowly for if they run into the plan to fast it could ruin everything and that was what he wanted to avoid by any means. Looking over his shoulder at the pile he had fallen over he looked back to Melody and he lifted his finger up which indicated that he had a bit of a plan. Search for supplies, though Melody had already found somethings. As he decided in this did he decide to ask her about what was next that they needed to gather.
"Alright. What else do we need to look for. Perhaps medicine and a good water supply?"
He was mainly brain-storming which was greatly needed in these times, simply going about it without planning well could most likely hurt them in their chances in finding the right things and helping the rest of the lucky few that had survived the disaster. Asch simply walked back to the pile and bended down to it while hugging himself now. That pretty much added something else to his 'To do' list. They would have to find better clothes most likely and get items together to make a fire or use it for warmth. Water of course was always first since, they could not live long without it.

Melody contemplated on what to do now. They couldn't just stand around. They needed to keep moving and keep looking for people. They also needed to find more useful things. She had found some things but it wasn't enough for one person let alone two. They needed a plan and just about as she was going to say so Asch beat her to it. Good thing he was on the same page. "Yes medicine would be nice and water is a definite. I would like to get cleaned up and I think you would too." Melody thought if she had seen anything that would help from her search earlier but nothing came to mind. She had picked up the things she could take with her. There had to be somewhere with water. They would just have to start searching again together. She looked down at herself. She would also like some warmer clothes. As it got later in the evening it would get cold and she only had one blanket. They would make it work until they got more supplies. They had to.

Asch looked around in a calm manner though his face said it all, he was concerned and worried about what they may come to find next. In these situations it was hard to tell who was going to be a friend or foe. No one knew what may come to happen, and it was highly likely that some people may not want to share the things that they had found. Asch understood that sort of, only the strongest survive but what made him feel bad was that everyone were the same and some people did not see that. They actually acted like animals than normal human beings and he couldn't help but wonder about that, in some cases it could be understandable since most people would react like a animal during these hard times. Still he couldn't help but worry about it and was just glad that he wasn't alone now, that made a difference during these hard times. As he walked on did he glance over his shoulder at Melody and he smiled to what she had said. Everything that she said seemed to warm him up inside only due to everything that she said was true. Everyone needed to be clean, baths and showers were all to good and some people loved them more than anything else. Asch surely did, he loved to get up in the morning and just take a shower to help wake him up as well as wash away all of his worries.
"Alright, where should we look first? In the buildings or under piles of rocks?"
Asch made a strong looking face, he would help her in anyway he can. They needed to stick together, after all if they don't then they may just come to perish all to soon and he didn't want that to happen. He wanted to live on for those that had lost their lives. It made him feel better if he could live for everyone, it was a way that he looked at it which brought warmth over him. If he lived on for everyone then they could rest in peace. Quite silly really, but Asch believed it and so he was going to do it.
